How We Work

We are here to help you transform your garden into a welcoming, fascinating place, that’s rich in biodiversity all year round.

Here’s how we work

Initial Conversation

In this first conversation, we want to hear about your aspirations for the garden and its wildlife, your functional needs for the space, how much time and budget you want to invest, and when you’d like the work done.

We’ll offer insights and ideas on how we can help you to unlock the full potential of your garden for wildlife. We’ll also explain the design options we offer for you and the processes involved.

Design

Wildlife gardens are our speciality, and the best results come from a close partnership between designer and client. Every project begins with a free site visit and personal consultation, where we walk the space with you, assess its structure, ecology and surroundings, and shape your ideas into a clear design brief. Timelines, budgets and scope are agreed and confirmed in a written fee proposal.

Designs evolve through ongoing dialogue and, once approved, are developed into clear, practical plans. These may include scaled drawings, planting schemes and specifications. We also offer flexible options, from informal garden walkovers with expert guidance to focused advice for specific features such as wildlife ponds, wildflower meadows or species-rich hedgerows.

Enhance

We maximise a garden’s potential for wildlife by weaving structural complexity and plant diversity into designs, without compromising the look and feel you love. Our RHS-trained, award-winning horticulturists create planting schemes tailored to your site’s conditions, ecology and surroundings blending native and non-native plants for year-round interest and long flowering seasons.

Plants are chosen for their ecological value — providing shelter, nesting sites, nectar, pollen and larval food — while remaining visually beautiful. We integrate habitats of all sizes, from ponds and meadows to dead hedges, hibernacula and bee hotels, helping existing gardens evolve into resilient, thriving ecosystems that can be enjoyed and observed throughout the seasons.

Build

Bringing the design to life is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work. We agree a clear process and timetable with you, managing deliveries, construction and planting with great care. Our approach prioritises the protection of existing ecosystems and minimises disturbance, which is why we prefer to carry out wildlife garden builds ourselves. We are happy to collaborate closely with your architects or contractors where needed.

We provide fully detailed planting plans, source high-quality plants from specialist nurseries, and can oversee layout, planting and styling on site. From initial consultation through to completion, we offer expert guidance and close supervision, ensuring every decision supports both the garden’s beauty and its ecological success.

Care

A garden is a living system, and thoughtful aftercare is essential to protect your investment and support long-term ecological success. Ideally, a maintenance plan is put in place before the first plant goes in. If you already work with a gardener, our horticulturists are happy to meet with them and advise on best practice. If not, our team can provide ongoing maintenance, or mentor you if you’d like to take a more hands-on role with confidence.

For both new and established gardens, we create bespoke after-care plans tailored to the habitats and species within your space. Newly created landscapes benefit from gentle, informed management as plants establish and ecosystems develop. Through regular monitoring visits, we assess progress, track wildlife activity and make timely adjustments to ensure the garden not only survives, but truly thrives.
